Lincoln County, OR -- February 21, 2006 A Willamette Valley man was killed Monday, according to the Oregon State Police, when the log truck he was driving overturned near milepost 9 on Logsden Road.
Garry Roger Percell, 66, of Harrisburg, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place around 1:30 in the afternoon.
According to an investigation carried out by the Lincoln County Major Crash Team, the log truck, a 1988 model made by Mack, was apparently traveling eastbound with a full load of logs, when Percell tried to take a right-hand curve. Tire marks showed the truck slid into the westbound lane of traffic before rolling over and coming to a halt on the north side of the roadway.
Police said the cab of the tractor-trailer rig was crushed by the crash, and it also appeared as if Percell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Investigation is continuing in the incident, with police receiving assistance from the Siletz Fire Department and the Lincoln County road department.
